Firewall Needed As Viagara Zombie Army Strikes Pharma Giant

Computer security experts with Support Intelligence, tracked down piles of spam emails about Viagara, Valium, penis enlargements and other popular spam topics, to computers at pharmaceutical giant Pfizer. Pfizer manufactures Viagara, an erectile dysfunction drug.

The spam spewing from the company's computers is an indication that Phizer's internal system has been badly compromised, this time by a botnet, or zombie army. Bots are pieces of malicious code, also known as malware - small computer programs which allow a computer to be taken over and turned into a spamming device. Wired also notes that Pfizer reported 3 serious security breaches this summer. One involved an employees laptop, according to the pharma giant. The Viagara spam is not part of their official marketing campaign for the popular drug. For some reason, Pfizer has refused to speak with either Wired or the computer security company, who alerted Pfizer to the problem and tried to sell them their services to correct it.
